Heralding our Double Success

Monday, September 19th, 2011

I was delighted to hear that we picked up more accolades to add to our rapidly growing trophy cabinet following the 2011 Herald Property Awards, which took place last Thursday evening.

After claiming the ‘Best Show Home’ (under 1800 sq. ft.) award for The Humber at our wonderful Doune Riggs development in Stirling, we also went on to receive a property innovation commendation for our exciting online TV channel, Miller Homes TV.

For those of you who may not be aware, the Herald Property Awards honour the achievements of Scotland’s most innovative and successful housebuilders and developers. We are extremely proud of our Scottish roots and always enjoy what we like to think of as a celebration of the industry’s achievements each and every year.

There is nothing more satisfying than receiving awards for the homes that we build. After all, housebuilding is what we do so well – we have become known for delivering quality new homes across the country and The Humber is the perfect example of this.

Whilst housebuilding may be our lifeblood, we also know how important it is for us to engage with our customers in the best ways possible. At the start of this year, we launched our online TV channel, Miller Homes TV, which gives us a chance to offer a dynamic insight into our developments, our people and our activities. The feedback we’ve received since its launch has been extremely pleasing and to receive such esteemed recognition from within the industry is something we are very proud of indeed.

Whilst awards may not be everything, they certainly give us something to shout about. Our customers can feel reassured that they are buying from the best in the business.

Our social media story

Monday, August 15th, 2011

It’s been a while now since our first tweet in 2009 (2 years and 4 months to be precise). Funnily enough, the social media landscape has changed quite a bit in that time too!

We’ve already talked about our use of the ‘triple effect,’ building our own social community through our Blog, Facebook and Twitter pages. However, as we’re the most followed and engaged with house-builder in the UK it only seems right that we reflect on our successes.

Twitter, pre ‘Giggsgate,’ and ‘Hackinggate,’ and any other recent ‘gate’ for that matter, was still fairly unknown territory to the masses in 2009. For us, it was a great way to engage with industry tweeps and people interested in the property market. Now with more than 3000 followers joining our conversations we’re talking all things property.

Similarly with Facebook, we saw an opportunity to talk to our fans on a more human level, allowing them to see us in a new light. Now with more than 1,100 ‘Likes’ we have real conversations and celebrate all things ‘home,’ on our social media hub – as well as running the occasional Facebook App to find clever ways to reward our followers and drive wider awareness of our social media channels!

Finally with our blog, we’ve always tried to provide a wealth of knowledge on all things property, and most importantly, give a balanced view in an ever more pessimistic marketplace. Remember, we’re optimists! Since we recently ‘socialised’ our blog (for you non-techies that’s adding share buttons and the like) we’ve seen our content shared across our online community by hundreds of our fans, followers and more.

It’s no surprise then that at the recent Twitter Conference in Scotland one of the organisers tweeted; ‘Why @MillerHomesUK aren’t used as THE Scottish success case study, I do not know.’

We’ve only had one approach over the past couple of years when it has come to social media and it’s been all about quality, engaging and interesting content.

But of course we couldn’t have succeeded digitally without you. Yes, you, our fans and followers. Thank you for joining us on our social media journey. It’s because of you that we’ve been able to develop our social media communities and bring together people who are passionate about all things property.

At Miller Homes, our commitment to delivering excellent customer care starts from the moment you make contact with us. So with more and more of you engaging with us online we can continue to thrive on the conversations we have, using the feedback to shape our products and service.

Thank you and do stay tuned as more competitions and a new campaign are on the horizon. We only plan to build on our social media successes by leading the pack and bringing the best in social media content to you!

The Social Network – more than Oscar winning for House Builders

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

We all know that the use of social media has come a long way since Mark Zuckerburg invented his very own website. Now the concept has become a global phenomenon, or even necessity, not to mention the basis for a triple Oscar winning film. What has really become clear to us is the way we all use social media to stay in touch.

We also like the triple effect, building our own social network through our blog, Facebook and Twitter to ensure that we are always on hand to provide useful information, listen to your feedback, answer questions or even give an insight into the latest property news – including helpful hints for both existing homeowners and those looking to get their hands on that first dream home.

Those of you who check in with us regularly will also know that we like to keep things fun with a stream of competitions to say thank you for keeping in touch with us – recent winners enjoying prizes including film nights, cinema tickets and even, for one lucky winner, a luxury weekend stay in London with afternoon tea at the Ritz!

But we don’t stop there. Viewers can also tune into our very own online TV channel, Miller Homes TV, where they can watch a range of videos on all things Miller Homes, including some special episodes featuring our wonderful customers talking about their experiences with us.

So, from requesting information on our great incentives to checking availability at your nearest development, or even just grabbing your chance to win one of our fantastic prizes, we always like to hear from you. Feel free to drop us a message on Facebook or Twitter any time and make sure you keep up to date with us for all the information you need for your quest for that new home!
